Change or pivot

I often wonder why I love myself some days so much more than other days.
When I look in the mirror I think,
"Wow, she is so cute! She doesn't look 46 at all. She has it all together and anyone would be lucky to have her. She is sexy, pretty, well dressed, her skin is flawless, and her hair is amazingly put together."
Then some days I'm like,
"Who is she? I don't even recognize her. She looks old and haggard, she has a double chin and extra skin that doesn't belong, she has dark circles that make her look tired, she looks fat and frumpy and not at all desirable."
So, I ask myself often,
"Which one is me?"
The answer is both. They are both me. They both exist together, and they both play an important part in my life. They both teach me things.
A lot of that perception I don't have any control over.
How many times have you said to yourself
"Is it me, or is it just my hair?"
Well, I am here to tell you that hair has a lot to do with it. If the hair doesn't behave then just forget it. It's a bad hair-day. Am I right?
But it's the whole package, though. It's everything. If the hair looks good, everything can be less than perfect and you could still feel like a million bucks. Yet, if everything else is in place only the hair is not, you feel somehow off.
So, if that is true, then it is absolutely the hair! In that case you should be able to control how most of your days could get off to a pretty good start! And that is great news!
The question is what is it that you need? What would make you smile in the mirror at first glance? Do you need a complete change or just a pivot in the right direction?
Should your decision to make any change come from your emotions or should it be a logical choice?
That depends truly on your "pain with your hair". Is it the style, the cut or color that isn't jiving with your features or skin tone? Is it the texture that drives you crazy? Is it damaged, dry or brittle? Perhaps it is fine and limp and you have to wash it every day, twice a day to get it looking presentable. Or that you simply don't know what to do with it so you throw it up somehow and away from your face and refuse to look in the mirror for the rest of the day and try to forget about your hair all together.
Imagine loving yourself. Imagine feeling beautiful. Imagine being that person you dreamed up becoming before you really started your independent life.
Do you need a complete change of color? Maybe you need a big chop and get some length off to open up your neck and leave some room for your beautiful facial features to shine?
Maybe you just need to pivot a little. Sometimes just adding a few highlights around your face will brighten you up enough to make you smile and want to go on a date again. Perhaps a few layers will do the trick.
Learning to curl your hair, trying out a couple of cute braiding techniques, figuring out how to easily put up your hair that looks modern and fun will make you feel alive again because you are doing something different.
I can't help but wonder if it is time to seek some answers and make some changes...
